On Saturday 26th April both the 3rd Timperley Cubs and Scouts headed to a top secret location to prepare themselves for their forth coming incident hike competition. The Scouts met first early on Saturday morning and their first task was to use a route card to plot their pre-determined journey around the surrounding countryside which saw them heading up hills and across fields. This final training session helped the young Scouts get to grips with the finer points of navigation.
The Cub section arrived later that afternoon and somehow just missed the Scouts as they headed home. The Cubs who had learnt to use route cards in the Hut and had already plotted their course the previous week in the hut, so all they had to do was to navigate the route and deal with some interesting incidents along the way including a memory test and stick puzzles. Both sections gained a lot from the training hike and had a great time. The Cubs and Scouts are now looking forward to their competition in a few weeks’ time and to the huge challenge that faces them.
